DEREK TREICHEL, P.E.

President

Derek began his career at Hancock Engineering working as an intern for 2 summers while finishing up college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale (Go Salukis!). After college, he briefly worked for another engineering firm before returning to Hancock Engineering in 1988 where he has worked ever since.

Derek has served as the Client Manager for the Village of Brookfield since the mid-1990’s and has served as the President of the company since 2000. When asked about Hancock Engineering, Derek states that “Hancock has been around for over 110 years, it has staying power. There is a reason that the company has been successful for so long. We are more than just a civil engineering firm – we are municipal consultants. We pride ourselves in strongly advocating for our clients as if we were part of village staff whether that be in helping them obtain grant funding, developing programs to improve and maintain their infrastructure, or developing policies to address new legislative requirements”.

At the office, Derek’s goal is to provide a work environment that is both challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable. “We spend about 35% of our waking hours at work – it can’t be something that we dread. We work really hard to try and provide an environment where our employees enjoy their time at work”.

When away from the office, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He also enjoys biking, spending time on the pontoon boat, and playing golf.
